Whats your Favorite Headphones for CZ

Tico

Member
I have used a Fisher Cz for some 3 odd years now and was wondering what your favorite Headphones are. I believe with the deep hits enhanced headphones are an option with this great detector. I use headphones during the winter and while near a major road with alot of traffic.
Right now I'm using Koss UIr30's which have no volume controls and the nickles are knocking me crazy loud. I live in texas where comfort and sweat control are at a premium. Just wondering what headphones your using with cz.

Original Killer B's. I used to use an old set of Depth Master Superphones with the switchable limiter. It became redundant with the built in limiter on the CZ. I really don't use either limiter, rather I use the volume control on the headphones. I am interested in this post also as I need another pair of phones for my F70. Maybe a pair of Grey Ghosts or something.

Certainly everyones hearing is not the same and personal preferences come into play and gosh a lot of options out there..Remember you CZ has a volume control which I keep at 10 lest I miss the deep whispers..Personally use expensive detectors and relatively inexpensive Calrads work well on them and about 7 years on my present pair with of course a new pair as a backup..

Guy's i am hearing challenged and i love Sunray pro Gold headphones they are by far the most comfortable i have ever worn, Also tico i wear head phones all of the time i would be lost without them, but i can understand with the hot weather you get Down in Texas going without being an option. you see living in Michigan has it's own set of challenges cold weather makes the cable more stiff so i have never owned a set of phones that i didn't have to replace the 1/4 inch jack it's just a fact of life when it comes to cold Detecting. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

I am in Texas as well and with the heat most of the year I use a pair of behind the head basic Koss headphones from Walmart at around 10 bucks. These also allow me to were a full hat for better sun protection.

When I need more headphone, which is rare, hunting on a cold day, or noise, I have a fine pair of Timberwolf Lobo. The Lobos came with isolation cup extentions with extra sound deading. I found this to be a great overkill, and so Quite I could not hear what was going on around me, so I removed the extender, and extra deading and am very happy with them. These also have the Limiter switch to protect your hearing from high volume spikes.

I don't think you can get Timberwolfs anymore, but the Grey Ghost are very similar, and with the limiter switches can be had for around 90 bucks and are great high detector headphones.

I like the Koss QZ99. Not as pricey as some other choices, a little hot in the summer, but great noise isolation, comfortable fit, volume control, mono / stereo selectable and good sound reproduction. Only thing I don't like is that the cord is a little long so I end up wrapping it around the detector shaft twice to shorten it so it doesn't hang too low.
