whats up with all the secrets on new detectors

i can`t firgure out why companys keep everything so quite on what they may have coming up. i am looking for a new relic machine and i have a tejon right now. tersoro makes great detectors and they said nothing of whats coming. troy detectors you can`t get any response. i mean what the heck if your working on something you would think that they would throw us a bone and keep us somewhat informed. don`t need to know everything about a detector that your working on, just that your putting something out. i am not getting any younger..............

I can think of two reasons right off. If you're the manufacturer you don't want to give early warning to the competition if you're coming out with something they don't have and 2 you don't want to promise or offer something until it is thoroughly tested and ready to market.

I've found that one way to understand where things are going and wht might be coming out is to have a good baseline understanding of what's out there. Unfortunately none of us have sufficient experience or funds to buy and test all of he machines out there in the market.

Andy Sabitch just released a great ne book wherin he does a failry good analysis of the market of metal detectors and other things. Accomplished with the help of a great group of owners ant testors this is a bok every MD needs in his intelligence arsenal regards metal detectors.

Things are really moving out in this market at the same time more and more regulations and prohibitions are having to be dealt with. Anyways I'm recommending Andy's book to you as good baseleine for what's out there in the market today.

Hope I'm not violating any rules here..

i agree with barberbill on his comments, but my way of thinking is if a certain company doesnt want the other to get the upper hand, well i dont think that would be to much of a problem because they take the risk of putting a bad detector out there. and edjcox has a point of so many reg. that is put on a company slows down the process. i guess the main reason of this post was to say i want the best detector out there for relic hunting but if i knew if a certain company [ mainly the one that i like ] was a least working on one i would wait for their product... thanks for responding guys

Some car companies like Scion do this as well. They dont want to announce the new and improved model till its available lest people quit buying their products for fear it will soon be outdated.

Has Andy ever done a bad review of a detector ?
Then add that there's dozens of successful detector companies that don't get a mention in the U.S. until someone imports one of their products which is often three or four years later.

Lets face it it would certainly devalue the current model that is being updated and leave units on the shelves for dealers to try to move as they either sell them or eat them. Another factor their 2 or plus model might not be able to perform as initially stated causing more problems....From what I have seen over the years bells and whistles have been added along with new names for specific aspects but in reallity usually very little performance differences..

Well....Bell, I drive a '06 "toaster" (xB). I compare it to my Tesoro Lobo ST. One model has everything you need, beats the competition cold, and is fun to use. I ripped the back seat out, and made a little pickup like bed out of 2 x 4's and plywood, and use the package for making bucks, and for hauling "taders" home from the store. And with a few "Mods" I get 40 mpg with it. Now there's a pair to draw to. Hot Dawg :clapping:

Recently bought an F75 LTD - I can't imagine another detector doing better at relic hunting that this machine in boost mode.

Dan-PA is right on. Not just in detectors but in technical business. If you let people think that a new and better machine is being released soon, they wait and your current stock collects dust. The reason we have so many great detectors to chose from is free market, and with that come a motivation to maximize profits. It's a good thing, not a bad thing.

This is at the very heart of the problem with these money making forums.
