WHY IS B.H. NOT MAKING THE TIME RANGER,LAND RANGER AND A FEW OTHERS?WHATS GOING ON?TOTAL ABOUT FOUR DETECTORS:confused:THANKS ----BILL:shrug:

My guess is that BH had so many models, that many of them overlapped in cost and function and having to manufacture, inventory and market so many products made no sense economically. It's much like Government Motors dropping Pontiac, Hummer, Geo, Saturn and Oldsmobile.

I think the new BH Platinum is the replacement for the Time Ranger......with the big added benefit that the Platinum has user adjustable ground balance in the disc mode.

The Time Ranger, Land Ranger, and Land Star were all older BH units. I think First Texas discontinued these units to encourage more interest in their newer Teknetics and Fisher units.

 Hi Semper Fi,... Yes I have asked myself the same question. It's good to see other people are thinking along these lines too. I guess the days of the old "Bounty Hunters" are over. It's a shame because I have used a lot of them and they were my favorite machines for a while. I am no psychic but I knew this was going to happen the very day that I heard about the infamous Fisher buyout. For some odd reason I just knew that they were not going to improve the existing BH line. I also figured that they would not continue the original Los Banos Fisher line. Both were mistakes in my opinion and in spite of all the complaints about the new "F" series detectors, the new models looking like "star wars" toys, and the "mutant mixes between BH and Fisher"....they still continued to take the path of developement they are on today.( So much for customer feedback). Then it's just crazy how they kept the low end BH line and tossed the high end BH line ...as you stated earlier. So I am pretty much done with Bounty Hunter. I just don't like the new direction they are taking at First Texico. I was a White's fan too but they are discontinuing all the good units too. It just doesn't make sense. I like to have at least one "favorite" detector company I can rely on but the picking is getting pretty slim. Thanks again and God bless America.:usaflag:

I would have to respectfully disagree. I own two of the Fisher products and my son owns a Teknetics Omega which is also made by First Texas. We are very happy with our units. The F series products are known for their excellent ergonomics and user interfaces. They are fast responding and deep. There are many very happy customers judged by the number of posts on the Fisher and Teknetics forums I follow. First Texas backs up their units with one of the best warranties in the industry at 5 years which is better than Whites and Garrett and when service is needed my experience with them has been very good.

I believe First Texas discontinued the higher end Bounty Hunter units because lets face it most Bounty Hunter units are sold through mass merchant stores and the people who buy them tend to want lower priced models. This does not mean that Bounty Hunter detectors are cheap junk as some people say. I used to own a Time Ranger and found it to be a nice detector. But the fact is most people are not going to spend 400 dollars at Wal Mart for a Bounty Hunter. So in my opinion it makes sense to discontinue the higher end units and market the lower priced units through the big box stores.

Also remember one more thing. The units discontinued are older units. As they age the availability from vendors of spare parts becomes more problematic and expensive as vendors discontinue making certain parts. Part of the reason for First Texas discontinuing these models may lay in their long term ability to service these models in the future. I have read that Tesoro who gives lifetime warranties on their units is starting to run in to this very problem with some of their models.

i didn't know they discontinued the GEO.

still have the old faithfulls !! no need to upgrade as they both work great !
