What's "Typical Behavior" NiMh battery loses charge?

Hey, Was out doing a short hunt with the V3. Didn't have much time (between rain squalls) and figured that 10.04 volts would see me through this short hunt...Wrong! Shortly after hunting for about 5 min., I checked the battery and it said 9.02 volts. The detector was really acting strange and not wanting to ID or even respond on the back sweep. Switched to using speaker, without using the headphones, and it cleared up for a bit but then...registered 4.43 volts and shut down! Time span... 15 min. total.

My XLT, DFX, and 5900 were much more gradual and this kinda through me for a loop. Battery is on the charger now and will check it out in an hour or two but...Has anyone had their battery loss act like this? This little spot of dirt really kicked out a lot of deep old finds with my DFX and was really lookin' forward to seein' if the V3 could eek out a couple more nice finds! (I know..."Always carry backups." Dang it!) :ranting:

Turned out to be a bad battery pack. (Proofing the machine for a guy who bought one and didn't understand it.) Looking closely at the battery pack... showed it to have had a pretty hard drop.
