Found this today at a site where I have found "Civil War Relics" ....Might not be a relic, but it was found about 5" deep. It is made of Brass....I think I broke the other end digging it up....Any help will be appreciated!!

Looks like a brass brad of the type used for binding sheets of paper or other thin, flat items together:

The brad is inserted through a hole in the materials to be bound, and then the two parallel brass strips are spread flat in opposite directions to prevent the brad from coming out.
