Found this eagle thing in an old field that has had at least two houses on the site. One dating back to the Civil War years or before. The second was a share-cropper shack built in the 1930's. Any help ID'ing it will be very much appreciated.

Hi,

This bird looks like a pin or an insignia for a hat or something similar. You can see soder marks on the back. Not for sure, though.
It's nice. Hope someone can come up with an definate answer.

It is a pewter patriotic pin of some sort. The feather detail suggests it is a "drooped wing" Eagle. Parts could be missing as the edge appears carved. Interesting piece. GH, David
