If $ is no object, then the Platinum is a good choice. For the money, I don't think you can beat the Discovery/Elite 2200.

The Platinum is a really good detector. Lightweight, great LCD screen, and simple to use.....not a lot of bells and whistles and only uses one 9V battery......rechargeable or alkaline. It is easy to use the discriminate features. Notching is really easy and works well. The Platinum is much more stable than my Time Ranger and seems to go as deep in my ground.

I've had one for over a year and no maintenence problems. I like it a lot.

As a Platinum owner, I can tell you that it does not have a user adjustable GB. What it has is an automated ground grab feature in all metals (no motion) mode, no manual adjustment possible.

The manual says that ground grab will "maximize the detector's target identification and depth detection", so, presumably yes. It also says that ground grab will not work on wet salt water beach (haven't tried it yet), I have had it fail to ground grab on highly mineralized soils though.

]big bud for clad
now technetics is really a b hunter their delta and gamma and omega good for the money

What are yall opinion on the discovery 3300. It seems to be pretty good and accurate but wonder if I'm missing the goods because not as accurate in deep depths, etc could there b a lot I'm just passing up. If so maybe time to upgrade. Just can't afford it now

THE BEST MACHINE, is the one U take the time and effort to learn and Use !! getting to learn everything about your machine and having lots of practice with it can make a huge difference.

I have been on hunts where my old BH pioneer 100 out hunted top of the line whites machines etc, the main reason is everyone wants to move up to the next higher priced machines and get the latest and greatest machines etc. all the while never learning how to really use it.

Take the time to USE and Learn about what you have, spend a year with it learn everything about it, before moving on, and in some cases u will go back to old faithful, a lot of time just cause it's simpler and easier to use.
In my case it's cause of the weight , the point is take the time with the machine to really learn about it and use it, before moving ahead.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting
Karl
