Whats the skinny on straight shafts for Sovereigns?

Is it a much better setup than the s-rod. I hipmount all my electronics.
Thanks

The Sovereign without the straight rod is almost unusable for most hunter's,unless the unit is hip mounted.I don't understand why Minelab doesn't use a good straight rod asm.The Sovereign GT rod asm is in the right direction, but isn't long enough to move the control box back further to balance better and for a stand placement.

your hip mounting so you really dont need a straight shaft, but a straight shaft is a lot easier on your wrist.

But I still haven't spent the $ on a straight shaft. I'm tempted to make a straight adaptor for it one of these days.

I just bought of eBay another Svoereign XS-2a. It comes with the 8 and 10" BBS coils.
It also comes with a straight shaft. I like the S but have always wondered about the
straight shafts. I'll let you guys know what I think.
Thanks for all the input.
