What's the right Detector for you? Just my opinion.

I'm talking mostly coin shooting. The Ace 250 for the money is darn hard to beat. Maybe get the bigger coil with it and your good to go. I wouldn't buy another untill it at least paid for itself. If you like to hunt and have the time, it won't take all that long. Maybe a season or 2, maybe a ring on the first swing. In my heart, if I had to pick one machine for dirt hunting it would be my GTI1500 with the9.5 coil. This unit is as deadly a pinpointer as you will ever own. ( my opinion} Between the pinpointing & the Imaging things get along pretty fast. For Versatility the AT Pro. Land or Sea, great target separation, good for up to ten feet of water. This is a pretty serious machine and once you get on to it alot of fun too. And hey,I don't know about you but if I get in over 10 feet of water, it's not my machine I'm going to worry about. Worst case I've seen was this guy I know, dosen't hunt much, wanted to upograde to a higher end unit. So gets a high end water machine from another Co.- about $1,500, good for 200 feet in water & weights a ton. Hunts the beach one week a yr. and claims he dosen't need a long handled scoop. He had me pretty stumped on that thinking. But hey it only takes one swing for that nice piece of glory.

I have paid for my Ace probably 4 times over. For the life of me I can't see getting anything else-I have learned it so well and know so many tricks with it. It would even be my choice for a competition machine-especially a speed hunt. I don't even have to use the pinpoint button anymore. It's a killer. I shake my head at all the naysayers.

I don't even have to use the pinpoint anymore make the x and dig i love my ace i can get half d at 8 in i can go fast if i need to or go slow and not miss a thing

My wife runs circles around me with her Ace 250!:garrett::twodetecting:It's a coin magnet!
Here's my $.02:
Coin Shootin' = Ace 250
Nugget Shootin' = Scorpion
Wet sand salt water beach = Infinium
Fresh water wading, relic and gold = AT Pro

It's always fun to play around with different machines.:wiggle:
Can't have too many. Happy Hunting!:)

Your right the 1500 is a deadly machine. I also have a 2500 with a DD coil for farm land hunts. The 12 inch coil is way to heavy on the 2500 and I find with the DD coil on the 2500 it covers just about the same area as the 12 inch. Most of the time though I us my 1500 in parks ,lawn hunts and ball fields. I have found a lot of goodies with this machine and out did my hunting partner who is using a whites. I don't own a pin pointer not needed with the 1500. Would like to see a newer model come out maybe with 15 hertz. Also a head that looks like a DD with the inner circles for imagining and outer circle for standard search mode with the ability of the machine to switch to imaging after you pinpoint the target, at that time not using the out circle for standard search. Anyway the 1500 is ahead of its time and I really don't expect to see many changes to that machine for years to come.

It's been a while since my last visit here, while I only went MDing a couple of times in the past few years. I'm trying to get some of my friends to join me in this hobby. I'm gonna hit the beach tomorrow with my brand new Ace 250. I read all the instructions and watched the DVD. How does the Ace 250 act with small gold? I also bought the plastic scoop. The only thing that might stop me will be the weather... It's very warm (+20C +68F) but rain might come showering down from the heavy rainclouds. The GC-1010 got me a gold ring on my first trip a few years ago, and I wonder if the Ace 250 will do the same.
Happy digging everyone!

With small gold, I always use the Relics mode, as some tiny earrings and very thing gold rings will give the "boop" or iron relic tone. It absolutely loves gold rings. Just remember that some are in the tab, square tab, and foil regions. Start sensitivity at 4 bars and either increase or decrease according to conditions.

I am on my 4th Ace 250.
No I don't bust them up. I just keep taking friends along with me on hunts and kick their pouches when we check our finds at the end of the day.
Once a buddy sees how well the Ace works and how easy it is to operate I am asked to keep my eyes open for a used one. (why do I hunt with friends that can't check C.List on occasion?)
Yes, the bell tone can sound obnoxious...Yes the yellow color just screams TOY.
But for Coin shooting and ring finding this is an amazingly affordable and compentent machine that provides a lot of information to the trained ear.
Hundreds of hours of use have me able to almost completely skip the pinpoint function as others have mentioned.
As the original poster started this thread to ask about Coin shooting I can honesty say that the 250 can hold its' own in this department very, very well.
