hello there tesoro users, what does everyone use here for head phones, i've noticed alot of tesoro owners using killer bee's (wasps) or black widows, i was thinking the grey ghosts were the best but maybe not? taking a quick poll on who favors what and why thanks!

I use Killer B's Wasp. I haven't tried the others you mentioned.

When it got hot I started using Koss KTXPRO1 Titanium Headphones. I really like them a lot.

I do know a good set of phones make a big difference in the sounds you hear..compared to the cheapie sets.

all I have owned has been the Sunray Pro Golds. They sound great and really block out external noise, but I didn't care for the thin leather earcup pads. Mine developed small holes in them after only very few hours use and of course the warranty doesn't cover them. Vinyl would be more durable.

I have used Ratphones, Jimmy Sierras and now use the Killer bee's that came with my Eldo and my homemade pair.

I use grey ghosts with my tejon and its a great combo. I don't think you can go wrong with ghosts or killers

Gray ghosts have served me so well over the cheaper ones I started with, that I haven't even tried any others.

I have used the Koss UR-30's, Killer Bee's and TreasureWise. The Killer Bee's were far superios. Have you heard of Liberty headphones yet? Its a new company out of Ohio. I have heard they are awesome.

thats what i'm running currently is calrads and just want to know if i step to higher dollar phones, something will be better in sound quality?

That's what I started with. My Gray Ghosts give a cleaner, crisper, sharper, somewhat higher pitched sound as well as sealing out the outside noise better. I can't say for certain that I hear signals I would have missed with the other phones, but I definitely like the GGs better. However, to be fair, the Calrads were much better than using the extenal speaker IMHO.

hey there Bill i have to be honest with you i just started using phones this year because the outside audio on my rg 1000 was on the quiet side of things so i just started using them this year i never could get use to them before

Any headphones with volume controls and the proper frequency range with work good. But if you insist on a pair with limiters any of the top of the line brands with work, but most are as overpriced as the detectors their plugged into. There are many mid range priced headphones that sound just a good as the highest priced ones. Frequency range, good foam ear cups and volume controls is all you need in my opinion. I assume that the more expensive headphones are more sensitive and it is easier to discern differences. I have nothing but cheap phones so far. All work fairly well but with the 110 degree heat index we have been experiencing in south Texas, they really make you sweat.
Any suggestions on phones for really hot weather. I know they will be better in the fall.

Trust me, these work great in hot weather: Koss KTXPRO1 Titanium Headphones

the sunrays are great, but they block external noises too much, I'm kind of a solitaire detectorist so I prefer a pair of foldable music headphones that help me detect and being safe

I prefer Killer B with single pot control for Tesoro units, however most of the time now I use wireless headphones of my XP Deus.

It's the quality of the speakers that determines the clarity of the sound produced, regardless of ohm rating. For best results, match the ohm rating of the headphones to the ohm rating of the detector's audio output circuit. Any more than that is unnecessary as the audio circuit cannot drive the higher ohm rating to full advantage. Tesoros do not need 150 ohm speakers. A good, quality set of 32 ohm speakers ,like the Jolly Rogers, are more than adequate for use with a Tesoro. Having had a run in with a bear on one occaision while detecting and moose on two other, I now prefer headphones that allow me to hear what's going on around me. Keep two legged predators in mind also.
