What's the little 'J' hook for?

Got the AT back from Garrett today. It appears to work GREAT! I'm going to give it a run for it's money this weekend. There is a little 1/2 " J shaped hook that was enclosed as part of the hardware in the up-grade package. Does anyone know what it's for?
 
They sent me a plastic "P" shaped clip with the adaptor. This is more J shaped, metal and very tiny. There is a hole in the straight end, apparently to put a screw through it. Maybe they are intended for the same purpose?
