What's the difference between the CZ7a and the CZ70?

I do know the CZ70 Pro has a fourth tone for relics. I know there are some other subtle differences, but performace should be very close.

I have a CZ-7a, and with my recent upgrade to a FZ-12 coil I don't think that fourth tone is meaningful enough for me to upgrade to a CZ-70 for. I have to hold my scoop behind my back else the coil will pick it up. For a definitive answer to your question, go to fisher's web site and read the PDF files on the manuals. They have manuals there, to read or download, on their detectors, past and present.

Performance and depthwise just about the same machine, however some internals may have been changed...On the CZ70 square tab has been changed to relic and of course a 4th tone aforementioned has been added with no change of width on facets that I can ascertain. I might add tough to get above 4 sens. on the CZ70 and I can set my CZ7A pro to 6 or 8 in same areas as I have used both...If you actually have the CZ7A model its a rodmount only with different cosmetics but feel you have the pro model. I feel the sens. parameters have been changed on the CZ70 and even set at 4 will go as deep as other CZ's set at higher sens.I see no reason to change unless the foruth tone is to your liking...By the way I believe the only CZ being manufactured right now is the analog CZ3D, but you might still find a dealer with a new CZ70...
