whats the difference between the coil sizes

10" - 8-3/8" = 1-5/8"
10" - 4" = 6"
8-3/8" - 4" = 4-3/8"

This does not include the 11" coil.

I know the differant sizes, but what are the differant sizes used for???????

Larger ones go deeper but cannot get as close to metal playground equipment, fence posts etc. Smaller ones are more exact and can "see" through junkie fields better and can find smaller objects.

Thank you for the reply , that helps me understand uses of different size coils. I will have to invest in a smaller coil . I have an 8" coil now.

Check ebay. There are some decent prices there sometimes.

Maybe I need 2 get a smaller coil. I now have an 8" coil & am having 2 dig bigger holes to retrieve targets.
