What's the difference between Mode and Pattern?

Not quite sure what the difference is and am hoping that someone can clarify this for me. Obivously Pattern is designed for discriminating certain objects such as nails and other junk materials, but is mode the same and include your detector settings?

Thanks in advance

DJH

That is very understandable, but why do they look alike is more at what I am getting at.

If you look at a Users Mode and a Pattern File you see discriminated areas, so I am wondering more on why a Mode Pattern and a Disc. Pattern can look so much alike yet be 2 different things altogether.

Sorry if this is question has been asked before and I did not see it anywhere.

Thanks
DJH

The mode is a combination of settings and a suggested disc pattern for those settings, this way you can keep beach mode settings and install a different disc pattern if you like or create and edit your own pattern, tweak the settings to your preference and then save it as your own mode. ( the disc patterns are seperate from modes)
