Well guys I am on the pickett fence as to which way to go,thinking about a new Cibola ,but which way to go the Black one with the 8x11"rds wide scan coil or the old type with the 9x8" coil conc. coil:unsure::confused:
Need help from all you experts, theres not enough information on the difference:shrug: Thank you---james:thumbup:

Well, I have the vaq. not the Cibola but I can tell you the 8x11 is about the same weight (haven't looked but by feel) and seems better coverage. Haven't compared the two in dirt yet but in air test I'm getting just a touch more depth with the dd over the stock coil.

My own preference (with any detector) is to use a concentric on land in parks and recreation areas. In mild soils, the concentric will get better depth than a DD (of the same size). However, at saltwater beaches, if I am using a vlf machine, I like to use a dd coil...better coverage and the dd coil tends to handle the salt conditions a bit better than a concentric. In bad ground, or very trashy areas, you may need to experiment, and find what works for you, taking into consideration mineralisation and the amount of trash...coil size can make a difference in areas like these (ie, small coils might handle conditions better than larger ones).

C.J.M.,

There is information about the new wide scan 8" x 11" coil.

You go to the Tesoro official web site.

When you get there under : INFORMATION (pull down menu)........ Go to the last category : INSTRUCTIONAL Click on the second one.........Video Demonstration of the new search coil featuring RSD Technology.

There are 4 videos By Larry from BVMD demonstrates the new coil verses the old coils on two different machines.

In my opinion because of the fast recovery of Tesoros the new coil will be a asset over the old coils. + I don't think Tesoro makes the 3" x 18" widescan coil in 4 pin anymore either.

nope no more 3" x 18" widescan coil in 4 pin.

anyone used this in real world detecting 8X11": sensitive to gold as in small gold fine rings etc??

cheers
