Whats the Deepest Coin You Found With Your T2???

Just curious what is the deepest coin you have found with your T2? And were you using the boost process, all metal or regular discrimination with sensitivity turned way up? Thanks for any information and keep on diggin!!!!!!

I don't really coin hunt but I did find an 1827 LC and 4 IH cents while relic hunting. Settings were 99 sens. 0 disc. BP. hunting in AM. Coins were probably 6" deep. I have dug civil war bullets up to 14" using the same settings.

The T2 is pretty decent depth wise,i wont quote any specific depth figures as that basically means nothing to me,its all about using the right coil for your site on that day, what i mean by this is i was on a site last year that had just been harvested so the stubble was at least 5-6'' tall and this was very thick stubble as well, the coil for that day was the 5'' coil as that gave me the advantage of getting down closer to the ground and winkled a lovely George111 full gold guinea out in mint condition.I would not of got that coin if i had used the stock or larger coil as i would have been loosing 6'' of depth straight away above the stubble.

On other sites say like pasture that have much cleaner ground conditions i can un-leash the power of a larger coil, but just because i am using the bigger coil this does not mean to say that i will find coins at greater depth, but i could find slightly larger non coin items at greater depth.Coils loose the sensitivity to coins size items the larger they go,hence this is the reason i always take maybe 4 or more coils with me with the T2 if i am out for a full days detecting.

I only have a Standard T2,i have tried the latest upgraded versions like the Ltd and the DST ones but not enough with parting with my money,i am glad that i went down the additional coil route rather than just have the boost version.I use whats best for that day.

Also many variables can come into play regarding how deep you can pick up target, the ground conditions the way the coins is located in the ground etc,its not always about depth but using the best coil on that day,my example of the George111 guinea using the small coil paid for that detector just with that one find.No one detector/coil combination does it all and i totally agree with that one.

I would not use my biggest coil on my favourite roman villa site, the reason why its the most minerlised site and also another down side is the fact that the site has alot of trash on it,using a big coil will be wasting your time.

Fishing and Detecting have alot in common in my mind,it was that big and it was that deep honest guvnor,so these days i dont tend to mention depths,of course other may see it differently,i also dont tend to crank my T2 up in the settings department either,as i find that running it flat out can cause the machine to run very erratic and that can take its toll fatigue wise.

Its not all about depth, the wife says differently of course, but thats another issue  you cannot expect to hit a ultra small roman minim at the same depth as a larger coin, the orientation of the coin in the ground can also have a massive impact on depth that a detector will hit a coin.

So basically i cannot answer your question in a nutshell, its all about using the right combination on the day, only you can make that decision.

Mega I do understand its not about depth as I have hunted for about 20 years. I was just curious as to how deep T2 users have found coins, thats all. And you are correct on using the right coil and also the settings at different hunt sites will make a difference as well. I really enjoy using my 5" coil for the T2 more than any other as can get in between the trash in spots and find the good targets, I am thinking about getting an 8x6 sef coil to use as I had a sef on my explorer and it was a great coil.
Thanks for the information guys and keep on diggin!!!!!

I found a silver rosie 8" deep with my stock T2. What surprised me most was that it was in yellow clay and not black dirt. I would think that dirt would be easier to "see" through, but maybe not.

I have probably found clad coins/quarters deeper, but that dime sticks in my mind because it was silver.

Using a small NEL Sharpshooter DD search coil, I dug a silver coin that's about half the size of a dime at a little over 7 inches.

I found it in the 'DE' mode and checked it in the 'boost' most.

I dug a Mass copper at 11 inches. I've dug about 150 coppers and that seems to be the deepest. My settings- 2+ tones, disc 10, usually 95 sens. The vast majority of coppers seem to be at 5in. Oh BTW, I never use boost...I like silent hunting, boost is never silent. I have both the reg T2 and the boost T2...maybe Dave could give some pointers on how to use the boost.

Treasurehunter747 Go for a NEL Sharpshooter coil far better than the 8x6 coil and the 5" I have used them both
