whats the best garrett

KYBOY

New member
Im new to metal detecting. My nephew has a garrett gti 2500 detector that I like, but I would like to know what you guys think is the best all around detector for my neck of the woods.I would like something thats pretty deep finding things. Places I would be using one would be on local battlefields, lake beaches and old farm places. I don't know to much about detectors, but I do know that I want a real good one for my money. Thanks

But if you are entirely new to metal detecting, the GTI 2500 has a long learning curve, and my not give you much satisfaction for some time. The ACE large coil is a killer, and would be my suggestion for now. You can always upgrade later.....many of us have, and own several machines.

Have you used or tried your nephew's 2500? Has he been at it long enough to instruct you in the use of a 2500? They have a bit of a learning curve and aren't the best for a newbie to start out with.

As John stated you might want to start with the 250 and work your way up. What part of the country are you in and is the ground there heavily mineralized or not. These are things you must consider. Not all detectors work the same everywhere.
