Whats the best Fisher for coins and jewelry???

Coinstrike would be my first choice.
If that's a bit to pricey the ID Edge is a good close second.

Dollar value, verses performance between the two, the ID Edge has it.

These units are still available with a lifetime warranty with them.

If I can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to contact me at; wcrabtre@comcast.net

or PM me here.

Although the two models mentioned are very good, I think it depends on where you are searching, and the soil conditions. For me, in my area and my hunting style, they didn't work as well as the various CZ units do. They, too, are still available in limited supply with the lifetime warranty as well as a few others in the Fisher lineup.

If you have a local club, see what the members are using with success in your area. You may find a different model, might work better, or you may find that the models Mr. Bill mentioned do work well there. The key is to investigate before buying, buy the best you can afford, and learn the machine well enough to "become one" with it. In any case, it's hard to go wrong with a Fisher detector, but we don't know what the future might bring now that they are under different management. Hopefully, they will become even better.

The CZ-3D is certainly a specialized unit, and excels in the earlier sites. It can be used in newer sites too, although the Salt Mode would be the preferred mode in modern trash. It is too bad that the CZ's are going the way of the dinosaur's. They have been, and still are, excellent, deep seeking units. Anyone looking for a new CZ with a lifetime warranty would be wise to contact you ASAP before they are all gone. Your suggestion of the 1236-X2 can't be faulted either. They are a proven all-around hunter with many followers.

cz-5. only machine i've found that you can dig all modern coins without digging much junk especially pulltabs.

Your telling me you found the holy grail of metal detectors?? One that can descriminate between gold rings, nickles and pull tabs???

All I can say is I'm finding gold almost every weekend. I pulled this small 14k Religious Medal out Sunday. The red circle in the background of the area picture marks the spot where I detected it. Most machines pass over this small stuff. I hunt with the GB-2 and I'm nearing 60 Gold jewelry finds in 2 1/2 years. Not good for beaches, but great on playgrounds, scrapes and demos.

I'm not saying other machines aren

with the cz-5 you can dig nickels all day and the only pull tab woudl an occasional bent one. if you concentrate on the foil readings you can do pretty could pretty could on rings. at the first jewelry hunt at the warrior basin hunt in cullman,al.i did real good and some of the white machines in the jewelry mode didn't even get a signal on some of the white gold rings. fisher dropped the ball when they didn't use the same disc. setup on their other machines like the 1270.

it would ruin it for the type of jewelry hunting I do. Tone ID and notches work well but those features are not suited for dedicated jewelry hunting on the beach or for shallow fresh water wading.

The 1270's expanded iron disc mode puts it head and shoulders above most other detectors in giving me the adjustability needed to handle the various condition found in my lakes. Iron and nail rejection can be fine tuned to the site which allows the smallest possible jewelry pieces to be found in those trash infested areas. Run at low iron disc settings the 1270 will blow you away with its sensitivity to small gold. Detectors such as the Tiger shark are not even close to it at seeing the deeper small stuff and light years behind it on the big deep rings.

but if fisher had used the same disc. set-up, nickel above pulltab you could coin hunt and dig all coins and no junk. i busted the coil on my cz-5 so i've been hunting this ball field complex that is usually locked up. i hunted with the 1270 at full disc. and have found over $50 clad. now i'm hunting with my sovereign and using the meter to find nickels. haven't tried for jewelry yet. they are putting up new fences and i may not have mush time left to hune.

depending on the amount of time one is able to spend detecting perhaps a tad better as it is more user friendly and builds confidence a lot quicker.
