Whats the answer for the playgound pole blues?

I have been hunting alot of play groungs with my landsatr and wife's 3300, the finds have been fairly good. But I am spending alot of time digging around the equipment poles. I will get a good tone about 18" out and sometimes can follow it up to the pole. I have turned the sens. all the way down and I still get this. They can be new or old so I can't see a deteration factor. I find some good stuff under the play equipment but with the support poles I have to dig all all the wood out and scan it then put it all back.Needless to say this is very time consuming. What does a person do to aid with the blue poles? The parks like this due to the chips are suppose to be turned to prevent compost fire.

Bob, use the 4" coil to get closer to the metal poles and you can also
"detune" the target area to narrow the response by searching in all metal
with repeat pushes of the am pad. This will cut some of your digging.

Hi Bob

I'm new at this so I might be way off base but I have the same problem when I hunt the playgrounds around my house. I hope this doesn't sound like I had been abducted by aliens but I think it has something to due with electromagnetic around the metal structure. Just a guess from a newbie. HH

Poles are hard to deal with. Small coils help.

I have a tip for you though. If you are willing to pull the chips back.

You know how loose stuff gets piled up under the mary-go-round?

Because it's loose I can kick it out from under the mary-go-roung

and in front of me as I go. It puts stuff bach in the warn down area.

Also I have found these exposed piles to be rich in goodies.

Hay. If it was easy, every one would be doing it.

HH,
