How about a guessing game.I ran across a big box if whatsits I had packed away,I'll put up a whatsit and you boys and girls guess what it is.I'll put up a whatsit and tell you what it is the next day alone with a new whatsit....Todays whatsit is made of hollow brass and is 12" long.Good Luck

bahh, just saw the answer as I scrolled around a bit more. I suppose I was close in that it technically was used to get a "sample" of what was in something!
