What you can do with a few nails and a little paint...

Hi folks ! Since MD season is way over, it was time to redo the kitchen like i promised my wife a long while ago. We baught the house new in 1993 and even if the kitchen was still clean, it showed sing of age a little and it was time to "upgrade" it.
Here is a view of the place before and what was wrong about it. :

As you can see on this picture, the kitchen is pretty small, but functionnal. But it was overcrowded with stuff and the darn hi gloss finish on the cabinets was a lot of maintenance, especially with my kid who always seems to have greasy hands...

Well the project took about a week to complete. I was supposed to start a bit before that, but with the killed officier we had on our departement, i was at work day and night so i had to wait a little.

I baught lots and lots of moldings, a compressor with a gun nailer, mighter saw, and hight quality paint.
I first closed the space left over the cabinets. Added new doors where stood the two microwaves and that created enauph room for all the stuff. I replaced the appliances ( that was the pricy step...) and installed a vent microwave. That ment a few minors adjstments and i had to cut the doors for the cabined over the fridge and over the microwave.

All the cabinets had moldings added, then were lightly sanded. I used a good oil primer and a Melamine oil paint with just the right shine. I then added knobs on the doors.

I finished everything by re-grouting the floor and added a filler then a nice coat of wax. I did the ceramic floor last year. The new finish is really great looking isn't it ?
