What would your pick be and why?

Hi all. I currently use an ACE 250 with the largest factory coil, and I'm doing well for relics and old coins. However, I want more capability and I'm looking at the Fisher F70, Tesoro Tejon or the Garrett 1500 GTI. I respect anyones choice of detector so I hope that we can have an adult discussion on the merits/demerits of these possible picks. I'm not a millionaire so I want the most bang for the buck in this price range of machines. I am a 95% coin/relic hunter. Please give me your pick and why you chose it. Thanks.

I use the Tejon and the F75. Well, I did use the Tejon alot but that was before I got the F75. I wouldn't hesitate to use either but the F75 has become my detector of choice because of target separation, excellent screen info, battery consuption, and depth. I love the Tejon because it screams on brass and hits very small deep targets (p-caps, 22s, etc.) but the F75 has so much more to offer. With the new F75 LTD hitting the market now, there are some real deals on the original F75. I would buy one of those if I were you. Can't comment on the Garrett but someone will and will probably say its a good machine as well but I relic hunt and the F75 is my go to machine. I also use the Nautilus 2B and nothing will touch it for depth but again, the F75 offers so much more info and is just a fun machine to swing. JMHO.

I have the Ace 250, and did find some large cents (3" deep) and other old stuff. The Ace sits in the corner now. I bought the F4 and then the F70- both where better performing for me than the Ace. They both where deeper, and had multi tones, which helped a lot. I found the F series had better ID and better discriminators. I can let my 10 year old use the Ace and not worry about damage to it. Of course any higher level machine will cost more, but they have an easier ride. After a whole day the ace "bell" was driving me crazy. Of course I was using just the coil that came with it, perhaps the larger coil helps. Some day if the price is right I will get an F75 LDT Good Luck

You might want to take a look at the Minelab X-Terra-70 and 705 if you are looking for more bang four your buck. TomB
