what would your choice be

If you had a choice between the Safari and a new F75 (not the LTD) which would you choose.
I have enough to buy one but not the other.

Never mind I will just have to make up my own mind.
Either one is a good machine.
good luck and good hunting

Tough decision! Owned and loved my Safari but heard great things about the F75 series.I've always wanted one to be honest but have read mixed reviews.

I have been thinking of buying either the Safari or the F75/LTD also. Does the Safari have faster recovery speed then the Sov GT? I have a GT and it is really slow in the areas with a lot of nails. Also, how is the depth of the Safari on coins? I have a dime at 7" in my test garden that the GT (10"coil) doesn't hit but my old White's QXT does.

Thanks

Seems like every digger likes a different machine for different reasons. I am hooked on my Safari, best machine I have ever owned, but I know that some people do not like the tones and find the machine a bit tough to get used to. The F75 is no slouch either and a bud of mine finds relics with his at incredible depths. We compare signals when digging and frankly, I do not believe that either machine can find targets that the other cannot.

Bottom line, any of the reputable manufacturers' machines can do the job as long as you take the time to learn them. The most successful hunter in our little band uses a Whites Blue and Gray that is two years older than the youngest member of our group and he slays us almost every time. Again, take the time to know the machine and you will be happy with either choice.

Just a humble opinion,
TomH

Just ordered the Safari!:jump: Seemed to be the better choice over the F75 since I live a couple of blocks from the beach. I will post some finds after it arrives.

Safari is wondrous at beach.... Get a sand scoop asap... don't bother with a pinpointer in the sand... Scoop and clean the hole till your detector quiets and see your treasures in the scoop... Enjoy!!

Wish I lived near the beach....

If your gt missed the dime that qxt hit than you are swinging the coil way to fast! If I were you I would go back and read post on the multfrequency detectors. You did make the right choice< just be patient and go slow as the all 28 frequencies must see whats in the ground that is why you need to go SLOW! You have a great machine.
I have an older sovereign xs with the 8inch coil I can find old coins in my south jersey area 10 plus inches. depending on soil conditions. I found a wheat penny at 11 inches and my meter read 550 twice using the wiggle method, I could have found it at another inch or two in that specific area and conditions. Again be patient and learn the detector.
The etrac, explorers.safari and sovereigns are by far the best in the buisness.if you are looking for the older coins you now have the right hardware.Read up on your unit and minelabs other multi-frequency units and you will see why they are the best.
My older sovereign will blow away the f75. why? MULTIFREQUENCY! minelab has the patent!!!! do your research some more. I'm happy for you!

I have a quattro lots of fun . Especially on the beach thats were it really shines. Safaris pretty much the same just a bit better. The f75 looks amazing but quality and durability wise Minelab hands down. But wouldnt mind trying an f75.

Well...........I'm moving from the F-75 LTD to the Safari. I have some friends that have Etracs that brag about getting the goods. I bought a Sov GT off Ebay a couple of years ago, was brand new. Tried it out in my test bed and within 2 hours I had it back on Ebay. Loved the Xterra 70 with the big coil and was finding relics at stupid depths with it. I am telling myself that I am gonna stick with the Safari and really get to know it well. The F-70 I have is a smooth running machine that works well and I can use it if I have to. Maybe I should break it down and put it back in the box for awhile so I will not be tempted to fall back on it. MO

In bad ground the F75 is not up to the task. I had the LTD and it was the most powerful detector I ever held. But the noise was a factor I could not deal with. I never had an F series before. I heard about the noise. I had no idea until I experienced it for myself. Now is the noise a deciding factor for everyone? No. But it was for me. I think the Minelabs just beat the heck out of every other detector in bad ground including the beach. So it all boils down to where you hunt, how fast you want to hunt, how much noise you can handle in your head, what you are hunting for, how much money you have. Maybe a few other factors. Weight comes to mind. Myself I'm going for the Safari in the Spring. Maybe sooner if a good used one shows up on the forum. But I know for some relic hunters out there the LTD is the one. That is why there is more than one MFG.

I had the same thoughts when I first got my safari. I have a white's xlt and I put it away while I got to know the safari. Patience my friend, once you get to know the machine you will enjoy it. I have found things with it that I missed with the xlt. And for the record, the xlt is still a very good machine. Its nice to have a few machines that way I can take a buddy with me. Many sounds and tones the safari has, again, its the getting to know part that takes a little time. I would put the f-70 away for a little while just to get to know your new machine. Have fun !!! Ron

Thanks for the tip!! My New Safari should be in next Tuesday. We are in the prime relic hunting season here and I can't wait to try it out. The F-75 LTD was way to "jittery" for me and like I said the F-70 was the smoothest running in the med hot ground here. There are spots that my Tejon will not hunt, so I hope the multi-freq of the Safari will work better. As far as speed and recovery, I tend to hunt slow anyways and I think that is why the LTD did not work for me.
