what would you do with these zinc pennies, they are all corroded ....and just dont know what to do with them

Roll them up and bring them to the bank, there's some gas money or coffee money for you. I cash in all my pennies at the bank. Last year there was just shy of 60.00 for my pocket. Cheers and HH

If the bank will take them, great. Otherwise, CoinStar - feed the rejects a couple of times, some will still be rejected. Give those to your mother-in-law for Christmas, then run away!

One of the guy in the club here ask the same question. He call somewhere can't remember and they told him that he has to fly to Philadelphia with his coins to get credit for it, he said heck no the plane ticket cost more. I know I have a lot of them myself. I just throw it away the coin star doesn't accept it and the banks here don't want it (may some area they will). Usually I can tell if they are corroded. The VDI on my AT PRO reads 73,74, sometimes little less (I don't dig them). This usually means there's pieces missing. You should check with the banks in your area first...like M_ d_ n guy said gas money.

Hmm, be careful, asiandigger; you will pass up some amazing finds given that rule (e.g., large gold rings, tokens, Indian Head pennies).

Anyway, my cruddy zincolns end up in the recycle bin if they are chipped or rejected by CoinStar.

Don't dig them up. You should be able to tell from the tone they give off. Scratchy tone in the 70's. I dig very few.

Hi guys, I have the same problem. The 1, 2, & 5 cts. euro are iron and the sea salt will rust and deteriorate much. I try not to dig them out but those who take them home. I can not throw money away. It attacks all my religious, economic, physical and psychic principles.
This money and the old pesetas (coming out in abundance yet) give them to a local NGO that takes you to the National Bank for change in euros ... with coins that are not worth what they want to do them, it's not my problem:shrug:.
cents many of you together may be something worth ...
Also you can make a nice collage frame or line a 61 Plymounth (would kill him if you do)
regards senda

I save all the rotten zinc too, in those plastic coffee cans...I dont know why, except for the reason Senda mentioned...cant pass up a penny!...and, I do NOT want to miss big gold either...so, one of these days, when I feel like pouring a new anchor, I plan to dump them all into the concrete...or maybe I'll make a few anchors and sell them at the garage sale?...definitely easier and more money than shipping them to the mint...
Mud.

How about making up a few caches...plant them and just think about the next detectorist that finds them and tries to figure out how they got where you hid them. Make a GeoCach out of pile of them... Make a fun hunt with several hints for local detectorists to find and follow... Lots of fun things you could do with them other than coating a convenience store parking lot to watch people pick them up. The kids at the local HS do it all the time...they enjoy it!

I just throw the bad ones away. I don't want a bank saying no to me next time I cash my coins in my account.

Got a slingshot?

I would take a couple hundred of them to a local casino. Drop them on the ground by a bus lobby as a bunch of people came in and watch them scramble. Knowing they are not worth anything I wonder what people would do with them that did not give them back.

I use all of mine at the turnpike booth for tolls. They seem to accept ones with corrosion and pieces missing.

Just don't overload the machine as it will jamb.

Some of those in your picture will not make the grade like the one half gone.

You even get a little satisfaction about getting rid of the crap they produce.

So, no one has an opinion about this?

I laughed out loud when I read the mother in law idea,
got the evil eye from my wife.
