What we never reveal by being canadian...

Yes, we never talk about it, but there is a dark side we usually keep for ourself :p

Yes the whole truth and nothing but the truth... if you are "lucky" to be surrounded by Maple trees, our national emblem. Your pool and your backyard will go thru a difficult period, lasting about two weeks.

Those wonderfull trees have the unpleasant tendancy of over producing maple seeds that fly away by the ton, especially after a windy night like last night. Many pool pumps will blow up if you aren't carefull and clean the streamer everyday during that period!

I usually end up bagging one or two large orange bags of these "fruits" and the following spring, i'll be removing young trees all over the flower beds :(

After the seeds comes the little stem that hold them and after that...well your good untill automn for the leaves.

Now you know the whole truth... :)

Here is what the pool looks like right now. Fortunatly the solar sheet hold them of the surface for now, but it will be a challenge to remove it and net all those nice gifts from nature :(

I would love to get some of those tree down here in Florida. Doubt they would grow, but the shade would be great. Not to mention that sweet maple smell each spring.

Every year I dreaded the arrival of those whirly birds as my sinuses would clog up and breathing would be a chore for several weeks. Maple syrup is like poison to me, my throat starts to close up within 5 minutes of tasting the stuff.
No problem now though, I'm not allergic to Palm Trees, not one bit!

Cheers,
