Well, not QUITE enough said.

How far into the water do you go with your GT? Any ocean beach detecting? Heavy surf? Last time I checked, my Sovereign GT was NOT waterproof. That's why I also have an Excalibur. The man asked about WATER detecting. I'm thinking the GT is great for the dry sand and wet sand (and of course the dry land hunting of all kinds) but only VERY careful hunting in the shallow water. Get it wet and it's all over but the cryin'.

I use Dual Field (after using PI PRO as well) and I like it. It has one serious disadvantage though - if there is no gold rings in the beach it cannot find them, so probably Minelab will be your better option.

BTW, OP asked to give her pros and cons, not just a statement. It would be of great value also to some new hunters like myself. I have three machines now (MXT, DF and Wader) but do not mind to buy some more. To me they look much better on the walls of my living room than those stupid pictures of Dali and Chagal!!

Just wading around but I would like for it to be fully waterproof just in case I want to travel deeper into the waters. But I do thank you all for your responses.

I hunt Freshwater and use the Tigershark. It gets those gold chains and small gold pieces most detectors miss. It goes deep and has great disc capabilities. It is built well and has the best warranty in the business. JMO :detecting:

..NO detector will find them. I don't understand how the Minelab would find gold rings if there aren't any ! Do you mean that you feel the Dual Field not sensitive to gold, or that the Minelab is more sensitive than the Dual Field ?

If your coil doesn't go over a gold ring then no matter what detector you're using or want to use will help you... You have to have faith and its not a bad thing to be able to read a beach and hunt those carved out area's.. its not the detector's fault your not finding gold...

I use a garrett seahunter mk ll, I'm beginning to wonder why myself.

I was enquireing about one a while ago, it seemed like a good deal and a good underwater pi. What are they like? I ended up getting an excalibur 2 and thought for a pi unit the seahunter would be good for when I get more serious.

Got it because I trusted Fisher and the convenience of chest mounting. I can hunt for hours with it on my chest.
