Most metal detectors are designed to give the most accuracy on depth and target ID on coin sized objects. However, not all signals suggesting a particular target ie a quarter, will end up that way and could be just about anything. This especially holds true for those who dig all strong sounding targets, regardless of the conductivity.

Well, mine was a little silver treasure chest, about 1 1/2" long, one inch high and wide. It was sooooo perfect! Even had a string of pearls wrapped up around. On the back of the chest were the letters written "AXIL." I quickly tucked it into my pocket (not my pouch) and impatiently waited for my buddy to join me shortly, to compare his finds against mine. I had the "WINNER" for sure, so I figured. Well, he emptied his pouch, and has several quarters, a silver dime and some junk. I proudly took out my found treasure chest, unwrapped the pearls, opened the Lid expecting s ring, and there was a frigg'n dead toad in there. I was furious, and chucked that chest as far as I could, and left it there. My buddy wet himself laughing so hard! Life sucks sometimes.....:ranting:

I found an ancient skull once. It"s jaw was still moving, so I determined that it was female.

I found a dead frog in a little treasure chest too! Even worse it was wrapped up in clothe in the box so I had pulled it out and unwrapped it expecting a trinket.

That is so funny! I mean....what are the chances of someone else finding a dead frog in a little treasure chest.

I got a slammin hit under a HUGE tree. Dug up a .50 cal ammo can! Opened it up and the first thing I saw was money!! Peeling back the layers of cloth inside led to a couple toys and......A DEAD BIRD! It even had a note with it. I put it all back and buried it just like I found it. Dang.

I got a good signal in a tot lot, dug down about 6 inches in the sand and there was one of those small plastic liquor bottles made into a crack pipe. Had a copper top on it to hold the drugs
and a hose stuck thru the side to draw the smoke thru. Maybe the person had to get rid of it fast and then couldn't find it again.

I found a denture on the beach ... I still think, and I will break the box
I have not had the courage to throw it in the trash, and every time I open the treasure chest, looks like something half-smiles at me ...

I was hunting with a local LEO when I dug a round silver disk with short wire bristles on one side. The LEO was giving me the ol stink eye, then he told me it drug paraphernalia, even had some dope still in it. Im sure glad I didnt go posting that and driving around with it in my car. Jail here in the desert would suck.
