What Was The Craziest Object You Ever Dug Up?

A small 1" x 1" silver jewelry box, wrapped with a string of pearls with a ............................................dead toad inside. I was so angry, I threw it as far as I could in the woods. My buddy wet himself laughing so hard at me.

A smashed Esso Extra quart oil can in my yard. Not so crazy except I don't under stand how it got 4 inches down. Seems like you'd pick that up if you were mowing. House been here since 60's so who knows.

A watch, about an inch down.......still running!

A Coach purse in new condition on the beach.

A leather jacket. The detector got the small buttons in front.

I was out and about digging in my park and low and behold a keg & the tap was sitting alone so sad :( I threw it in my jeep as fast as i could . it was early am , kids must have left from night before. Thanks  $$ guy at the beer store gave me deposit :cheers:on both

Metal display of couple doing the deed....Was designed so both figures could move to do the deed...novelty object well done with detail...ended up in garbage as wife didn't want it in house for obvious reasons....

I found an old pipe wrench in my yard 2 feet down......... Figure plumber must have lost it when installing plumbing at build time. Then fill dirt was added and it got buried.

It's a toss up between 2 "crazy" things that I have dug up:

1) digging near a side walk in a "bad neighborhood" , I had a 78 reading (dime signal), when I retrieved the target I had a handful of hypodermic needles.

2) relic hunting near the Pecos River, very close to a mesquite tree, while recovering an Eagle button. I reached into the dirt and felt a needle like pain in my hand and in addition to the button I had a scorpion in my hand.

I wear gloves when i detect now! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

Not the craziest but certainly the scariest at the time! One time while digging in an old trash pit I dug up a shovel FULL of little Copperheads! Another time I raked some Pine straw back with my (booted ) foot and a Copper head crawled across my foot. Lol, yeah, lots of Copperheads, Cottonmouths and Rattlers in S Ms. HH, Charlie

I would never detect if I lived there.. and I'm man enough to admit it..LOL.........

Detecting a old park in the late 70s before disc detectors were around and got a nice reading and found a metal box (like a basic tool box) and took a little to dig it up and when opened after out of the ground I seen something wrapped in a white cloth, so I thought I had something good only to find out there was what was left of a dead parakeet someone buried. Replaced it as fast as I could and went to look for somewhere I could wash my hands.

That was the one I remember the most, but have found many odd things over the years.

WINNER! :surrender:

Years ago i was digging at an old bottle dump and dug up a semi hibernating groundhog.. he just sort of rolled out of awad of plastic and paper that he was using as nesting material. . i walked away and gave him a few minutes and he walked away.

I detected 2 kilner/mason jars in the ground near a stream in the mountains here where I live. Instead of having gold/nuggets or silver coins which was my expectations!!!! ( a lot of gold was found in the 1800's) I found they contained a combination of honey and other stuff which I couldn't identify. There was a photo of a young oriental lady and pieces of material so then I knew it was some kind of memorial to this person and re buried them in the same place. It was a creepy find though and very unusual!!!
