Yesterday was Memorial Day (Thank you, Veterans!). The unofficial start of summer. I had to work, unfortunately. Today, I decided to go and hit a beach, that has a campground, one of three in this county. I figured that the beaches with campgrounds are the best bet, as folks would be camping, and might try a dip, whereas if there's no campground, they probably aren't there yet.

I got to the beach, got my equipment all set up, and got into the water. Well, THAT WATER'S COLD! I'm not sure what the water temp was, but knew I was going to stay in long, since I don't have a wetsuit. I don't want to risk hypothermia.

I had been at it for about 10 - 15 minutes when I lady hailed me from the seawall. Oh great, they're going to kick me out. I started talking to her, and guess what? She wants me to help find her DIL's diamond ring that was lost in the water in front of their house, about 100' away. I can keep everything else. Naturally, I got out, walked over, and went to work. An hour later, I had a few pennies, a couple of dimes, some pieces to 30-y.o. steel beercans, a couple of pulltabs, and numb fingertips. Time to get out. I went and told the lady I wasn't able to find it, but, in a few weeks, when the water warmed up some more, I'd be back. I need to get a mask, a snorkel, maybe some fins, and a ping-pong paddle, as there are a lot of rocks just under the sand, which makes scooping targets next to impossible. I figure I should be able to fan them out, though.
