What type of hunting?

Well-known member
We all (or at least most of us) know what great detectors the new GB & G2 are.---Thought this might be interesting---what kind of hunting are you (mainly) using these detectors for?-----(1) gold---(2) relics---(3) coins---(4) other, (could even be meteorite hunting).-----You could mention the type of ground hunted in & coils used also if you wish.------I just thought these "reports" would be very interesting, hope everyone else thinks so also. :)----------Del

Relics only Del!!

I own the GBPro and I am ordering the GB2 today.

I use them to urban prospect for jewelry exclusively.

So I would be a "1", but not for nuggets.

To answer my own question(s): I use mine mainly for coin and relic hunting (in that order).----One thing I REALLY LIKE about these two machines is the fact that they are SO versatile.---I haven't used them for gold (nuggie) hunting yet but will at some point.-----The ground I hunt in is pretty heavily mineralized & they handle it like a dream.----For coils, I've got the 11", 5X10, 5" and the 13" Ultimate.---I like & use all four of those coils depending on the site/hunt conditions.---These two detectors are so lightweight, quiet running, adjustable, accurate I.D. AND sharp & quick response.-----I truly believe a lot of people are "missing the boat" by not having one of these great little detectors in their arsenal.--------Thanks for your responses guys, I hope we can get some more responses to this thread also.-----Don't be bashful you guys, let's hear from ya!-----------Del

Coin and Jewlery hunting mainly.
I have the stock 11" DD and the 5" DD and the new 5"x10" on it right now. It seems like the best of both coils combined together and a bit more sensitive to jewlery also.

Love to find the brass in the middle of a patch of iron!!!!!!!...............MO

Personally, I am not a fan of most 'aftermarket' search coils.

I don't care for the 7

90% relic hunting...10% OLD coins
coils: 13" Ultimate in open fields/pastures for punching deeper....deepest so far 11" 58 cal Gardner at measured 11", stock 11" for woods, 5" for trashy/iron infested sites

Right now i am using the GB2 for nuggets only but i seen a great video from an old timer on using it for fine Jewelry and am going to give that a try as the GB2 when i'm out in the desert picks up tiny pieces of brass and lead at wire thickness about 1/8" long.... at 71 kHz i love it but you will dig a lot until you learn the sounds.

Perfect, honest, truthful answer.

"There's no such thing as a 'perfect' detector, but any good unit will have prime times to be put to use."

But I might add, there are a couple machines that come mighty close.

I use mine for Jewelry, relics and nuggets, but recently i am using something else that I like better for jewelry and maybe relics. I use the 5" and 5x10" 95 % of the time.
