What type of hunting are you getting the AT Pro for?

I have never used a Garret machine, as I am a Whites type. However, this new machine has me thinking.

I have been considering a water machine, and this seems to fit the bill. I also like the idea of manual GB.

I have been reading comments about how hot the detector is on gold. I have an MXT, about the same frequency, and it is hot on small gold items, as well as aluminum pull tabs and can shards. Can we expect more of the same out of the AT?

So, what do you Garret guys see yourselves using this detector for? Looking for jewelry in the trashy parks with that huge stock coil? (I saw a small coil, but more $$ outlay.) Running in iron infested old building sites? (My MXT apparently thinks rusty nails are silver dollars!) Are you going to use it in the water? Fresh or salt?

Did they design the machine as a 'one size fits all' detector? Anyway, this thing has got my interest. At first glance, it is the best new concept to come around for awhile, considering features, versatility and price.

I wonder how many will be on the classified pages about this time next year?

All of what John mentioned plus caches and old homesites. So far my cache hunting hasn't turned up anything but it's not for a lack of potential! If I can get an AZ trip off the ground I'll be prospecting as well. So I plan to put the AT to all the uses it's meant to handle!

Anything I can find! It will be my go to detector when I am serious about finding gold or silver. Onus

I AM NOT MUCH OF A RELIC HUNTER. MOSTLY COINS, BEACHING HUNTING. I LIKE THE SOUND ROLL AND THE TAB SEPERATION ALSO THE GOLD AIR TEST SEEMED IMPRESSIVE. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN, I HAVE AN ACE AND HATE THE TONES. BUT IT COSISTANTLY FINDS WITH A 10X14. I DO LIKE THE NEW COIL SIZE. I HAVE ONE OR 2 PLACES TO STICK IT IN THE WATER.

JUST SPELUNKING

East coast war relics from Rev to Civil. Old colonial house sites loaded with iron rubbish.

I plan to carry it in my auto and use it at the beach.
Mostly dry sand but into the water when conditions are right.
Like the fact it is waterproof and has a large coil (better for the beach).

All good answers. This machine may be getting close to a 'do it all' detector as we have seen any company produce.

I hadn't thought about how functional it would be in the rain, and did not know it would work well in among the iron. Is working the iron because you can manually adjust the ground balance, or is there more to it?

This machine should be a home run for Garret! I might have to see about getting my hands on one come next summer.
