What type of coil to Vaquero/Cibola ??

Hello,
I think about change coil.
I don't know what coil is the right choice.

I want to something deeper than 9x8" coil but almost the same weight and will be nice when that coil be a DD (less ground effects and wider scan area).
I know that 12x10" are heaviest and less balanced. Depth is almost the same in most of grounds but less comfort of use.

I think about :

- 10x5" Elliptical Widescan (named on Tesoro site as 10" Elliptical Widescan)
- 3x18" Widescan Cleansweep
- 8

If there is a fair amount of trash, I hunt with the 3.75 inch concentric coil. Most of my hunting is with the standard 9 x 8 unless I am hunting the middle of a soccer (football) field, then I use the 3.6 x 18 inch cleansweep.

For plowed fields or open fields that are highly mineralized, then I would certainly consider the 12 x 10, but I have not compared the 12 x 10 to the standard coil in highly mineralized soil.
Cheers,
tvr

Damiano,

The 5x10 widescan is great for shallow targets but I'm afraid it has poor depth. Maybe the same with the cleansweep.
The 8.5 widescan didn't give me any more depth than my 5.75 widescan, however it has a wider sweep.
The 5.75 and 8.5 appear to have the same depth on my Vaquero when I tested them.
I don't have the 10x12 widescan but I suspect if you want depth, you will have to strength train and use the larger coil.

Hope this is helpful

Why are you say like that ?? Do you use that coil ?? You say "I'm afraid it has" and "maybe"...

Wider sweep without loose depth is good for me either.
Is 5.75 widescan has the same depth than standard 9x8" coil ??
How about weight of 8.5" coil ??
Is it heaviest/lightiest that 9x8" coil ?? How much ??

That's no option - i like comfort with good balance and i don't want to irritate about pain in back or arm after 8h in field. I'm also afraid that in 12x10" size i will loose small targets.

Thanks for advices.

No problem Damiano,

My references here are based on coin sized objects

I use the 5x10. I love the coil but it has poor depth. It is good for small jewelery and coins up to about 15cm. It will pick up large objects deeper (like a soda can at 25-30cm).

The cleansweep coil is not much different than the 5x10, just larger sweep pattern and heavier.

The 5.75ws coil is very close in depth to the 9x8 on coins. I don't know why it is, but my testing shows they are almost equal. 5.75 may be about 2cm less in depth if I remember correctly.

The 8.5ws is the same as 5.75ws on coins. The 8.5ws is very light for its size.

As far as weights, I cant tell you for the 8.5ws but the 5.75ws and 9x8 feel about the same weight.

The 5x10ws is lighter than 9x8 coil. I think the 5x10ws and 8.5ws are not potted coils like the 5.75 and 9x8. That would make them lighter

Hope this info is useful

Thanks for great answers :clapping:
That's i need to know - i think that i choose 8.5 widescan for me.
The same depth than 9x8", also DD coil for 'bad' ground conditions, wider scan than stock coil and ligter or tha same weight than 9x8".
