What to upgrade to!

Hey everyone,

I currently have a BH Lone Star. It's a good machine, but I'd like to upgrade. I'm tossed between a F4 or a F5. I was leaning more towards the F5 since the reviews have been rather good. But now I'm starting to think about just upgrading to a Pioneer 505. Would there really be much of a difference between my Lone Star and the 505? I shooting for more depth. The Lone Star is a good machine but I feel like there is so much more out there that I'm missing. Your thoughts please.

Thanks,

Georgia

I would think that a First Texas Dealer would have access to all of their product lines. If there was one within a couple hours of your home, it would be worth a trip to go and see for yourself and try out each model. Then buy the machine that will give you the most bang for your buck so to speak. You may be able to trade in any machines you no longer have a use for.

Go for the Gold. Get a Teknetics Omega. Then get the 11" DD Coil. You will be able to run with the big boys for less. Best kept Secret machine.

If budget is an issue the 505 is an awesome bang for the buck machine an a definite upgrade. You would not be disappointed. Ed in co.

I've never used the 505.
What are its selling features?
What kind of PinPointing? VCO?
How many detecting modes does it have.

Its my understanding that if you go with a Fisher F series
you can use most of the BH coils. Is that fact or fiction?

Maybe up to F4 but not above that. F5 has its own coils. F70 and F75 are different. I don't like the push in coil connectors. Omega has screw on connector. Same coil as F5 except for connector.

Yea, the push in coil connectors bother me as well. The F2, that
you don't hear about much any more has them as well. Eventually
the friction is going to wear on them and they are going to want to
go traveling on you. My Ace and MXT have the screw on connectors.

What ever happened to the F-2 anyway. It sure didn't seem to catch on
like the Ace 250 did.

Actually it has caught on. It is equal to or better than 250. Bounty Hunter seems to be in the process of changing over their detectors. Most likely for the better models going to the Teknetics style. And since the same companies own all 3 there is a lot of circuit mixing between brands. Omega is improvement on F5. My Omega is the best all around machine I have had in 40 years. Have a feeling the price will go up as they are really catching on. The Tek Delta and Gamma are great for the price also. Who knows what is next. Maybe someone to dig for you.LOL

I hope your right about them changeing over in style. I always thought the Bounty Hunter
Detectors looked like cheap Chinese Junk. A good face life on their detectors would do
wonders, I my opinion. I know one should never judge a book (In this case a detector) by its cover
but usually first impressions stick.

Thanks for all your thoughts & opinions. Went ahead & ordered me an F5. Can't wait for some good weather. Let you know how it does.

Good choice. Later technology than some you mentioned. When you get it remember practice make pefect.
