What to expect from my at pro

I just upgraded from a ace 350 to the at pro and was wondering about the performance compared to the ace 350 and what to expect from the at pro

Welcome to the Forum! :clapping: I know nothing about the strengths of the 350. You have a lot of reading of the forums to discern what you might tweak out of it between the two...will say this, just the fact that you can hunt in any weather with no worries is one great strength the Pro has over many other machines..

Welcome to the forum. The ATP is probably the easiest detector to learn that has solid performance in a variety of challenging scenarios (just IMHO). The 5x8" coil has been the key for my success in using it in iron infested & trashy sites. The stock coil has surprised me with it's very good depth and target ID. The manual is easy to understand covers the features very well. 1) Learn the Pro mode audio 2) and how to set the iron audio for your needs. In the end I believe it's more about the operator with any good detector than the hardware itself. From my practice of Pounding productive sites with at least 3 or 4 different detectors I can tell you nothing really gets it all because of how some see targets against and within the soil matrix differently than others. Your new Garrett is no slouch and you just need patience and field time.

Expect it to be used in any condition / environment nicely. Pro mode with iron audio is a great feature that you are going to love. Depth is always a question that every hobbyist asks about and the ATP performs quite well in that area. Hits nicely on bronze, brass and silver. Sometimes I still get surprised on how small some of my targets are when they are plucked from the earth at good depth. Good batteries last along time and I always use the water proof headphones because of the crisp sound and versatility. Had mine over a year now with no problems at all. Reliable, easy to work with and just a great all round machine, you are going to have some fun.
Cheers!

Welcome! I started with an Ace 250 and that was a great fun machine; got lots of stuff. Had an AT Pro for about 1.5 years now and...WOW. I believe the AT Pro/Golds could be the best in trashy parks. I never started with the Standard mode, went right to Pro mode. Go low and slow and focus on the sounds only using the VDI numbers as a rough guide. Trust me on this one: In the beginning, dig all of the iffy signals...you will be surprised. With many hours on the machine you'll soon be able to discriminate some of those. Never expect the "perfect" signal; you'll get them, but long buried targets have bonded to the soils in a variety of ways and can give the occasional odd sound. The only places I don't use the AT Pro are the wet salt sands and saltwater; I have an Excalibur for those environments. Enjoy your new machine!

You can expect to get out of the pro exactly what ever you put into it in learning the machine. It's a tool with great potential if you read, practice, follow the vast amount of instruction videos and read the forums. It is my honest and humble opinion the AT PRO is the best detector for the average detectorist available on the market regardless of price. There are more advanced detectors that are programmable, but those are not for the AVERAGE Detectorist.

I have had my AT PRO for about 2.5 years. I can conservatively say I have more than 2000 hours hunting with this tool. I have found everything from junk boot nails from the 1800's to gold rings and chains and anything and everything in between. The AT PRO has never failed me, is great on batteries and finds a lot of cool things. It is not good in wet salty sand because I do not feel it was designed for that. I have an Excalibur ll 1000 and a CTX 3030 for that. It is very good in fresh water.

With patients and education you should find the AT PRO to be a very positive step up from the Ace 350. For my hunting, sports parks, parks, and yards I use pro mode, zero discrimination, and sensitivity 3 bars down from max. Sweep speed is moderate and I scrub the coil cover on the grass. I dig all clean crisp repeatable signals.

Hope this was informative. GOOD LUCK----------HAPPY HUNTING--------------ENJOY THE NEW TOOL AND THE HOBBY
