Have any of you had the foam rubber handle grip get ripped and fall apart? Has anyone come up with a crative way to replace it?

Dog chew it up?
Mine is four years old and no problems.
You could go to Home Depot and get some foam pipe insulation. It is split so you can wrap it and it has adhesive to seal it where the ends meet. Not sure if it is sturdy enough to last very long but it is cheap so worth a try.

Tin, that's a great idea! Also, maybe I should try some of that thin wrapping foam stuff that is used to wrap around pipes for insulation. That might be pretty sturdy and comfortable. I do a lot of detecting, and my MXT gets a real workout.

Thanks Tin, Jeff.

Back in the sporting goods in walmart I bought this white urethane fix it tape. Don't remember the name but it sticks to most every thing and itself is soft and yet strong.
Also I have used electrical "Splicing Tape" from Lowe's. Thats not regular electrical tape its rubber SPLICING Tape. It has the same properties as the White urethane tape but it is black. Once you get the handle wrapped as you like it is very durable and easy to grip even when wet. I did one years ago and it still looks the same.

Go to a Medical Supply store and buy a replacement handle for a cane or walker. :jump:
