Hi all, I,m very GREEN at this game & am in need of some advice on which way to go with my new X-Terra 705. I've read most of the information in the FAQ & Thank you very much to those People who FREELY gave the information. My problem is i can't GB my machine above single digits ?, I have 2 coils the stranded & a HF 5 by 10, seems to be the same with both of them. The areas where i will be detecting most was very volcanic years ago. So should i be sticking with the DD coils or is there another way to go ?. My main hunting will be after coins & treasure here in Aus. Cheers for now & looking forward to what you all might suggest.

DD coils, all the way.

A guy in Oregon has some real trouble with mineralized soil and it appears that he has to dig negative numbers to get coins past about 4 inches.

If you are running in prospect mode that may help, being a dig/don't dig mode.

Jeff

did you try running in tracking GB? a DD coil will definately help.

I always Auto Balance in All Metal Mode. You may want to do a factory reset and then try and balance just in case during the learning process you changed one of the other settings. If that doesn't work then it may be a characteristic of the soil in your area or possibly a defective detector.

Thanks Guys, taken all that on board & will give it a go. There is another bloke in town with a 70 so i might compare mine against his for GB. Last night i went back yo the FAQ again, that is a real God send for a newbie. Thanks again Cheers from AUS.

Gday fellow Aussie Mr Wobbly
