what to do with dead NICAD pod?

Is there anything useful I can do with it, like convert it to a regular battery pod? The detector just went PFFFT - off the other day at the lake, I'm sure glad it wasn't the detector.

I guess I need a new rechargeable pod, can anyone suggest a good place to order from?. Is the NIMH the best option?

I don't know if I would condem the battery yet
It should of given you some warning
Like having to charge it sooner and sooner
Maybe I'm wrong
Got a volt/ohm meter??????????

If you have a Batteries Plus store near you, they can build a new pack to go inside the pod. Get the Nickel Metal Hydride cells. I paid about $35 for the one they made for me. ~John

Scott: If there is a "batteries plus store" near you they can make you a new one from your sample. If you don't have one, I called minelab got the part number, for what they call the raw battery assy.,part# 0303-0003 then I called a couple of minelab dealers. The only one who had it was Kellyco 1-800-327-9697. Sells for 66.00 plus shipping. You open the rechargable pod just like the alkaline pod except you will need to remove the plastic end cover, which has a couple drops of super glue holding it on.....Tony

Maybe you're right and I should check it first. Late last year I accidentally charged it for 22 hours instead of 14 and that's why I think its damaged. If it holds a charge for half the time maybe I can get some more use out of it. Normally the detector would give a few minutes warning, and I could coax half an hour out of it if I turned the threshhold tone off. This time it just popped and the detector shut off.

I think you saved me a few dollars no matter what I decide to do!
