What to Buy

Just wondering peoples advice here. I was debating on buying a new coil for my E-Trac,(I have the stock coil) or picking up a used DFX for gold only. I haven't picked up a gold ring with the E-Trac. Had an ok year. Not as much silver because of a bad injury, but did pick 13 silver seated, some nice year indians, (1872 in the bunch) and a few other cool things. Will try to post, but hard to impress this crowd. Des in Buffalo

I got the 6x8 sef for my etrac works great in parks just gota go slow. As far as gold you gota dig the junk to get the gold.

All of the Xterra's will run the 18.75 KHz coils (except the Xt30) for better response to small gold.

If your asking if the Xterra coils will work with the Etrac the answer is no.

Des, the trick to finding gold is location, location, location and digging the junk like pulltabs, statabs and can slaw. if you get in to a area that you are finding a lot of nickels that might be a good area to dig everything that beeps. that's how you find gold rings.

I would recommend the 8x6 SEF or the SunRay X-8 (or X-5 if you have the patience to go REALLY slow).
In all honesty and MHO...The DFX might be better on the Gold...The E-Trac were made for Silver mostly. You MUST dig the junk to find the Gold (unless you are on top of a Gold Mine)...lol

HH,

I would pick up another coil vs a different machine. The reason is you can use a 6x8 sef for hunting trashy areas. Plus the e-trac will do find for gold rings if you're digging the lower signals. I've dug nickels at 10" before with one so can't think of a reason not to use the e-trac for gold...
