what the h.b. red barron 7----any good in its days?

My father had one i think it was very good

I would kind of like to have one, again. I used an RB-7 back in the early-mid 80's when we had a club in Cape Girardeau. I was the only BH user in the club. I first bought a BH TR-840. Nice little detector, but I soon outgrew interest in it, and got the RB-7. It is hard to say if I equaled, or, beat the guys with their Whites, and Garretts, but I pretty much stayed up with them. You had to whip it like crazy to find the good stuff. One day, I was hunting a curb in southern Illinois. Up drives a BH dealer. Wants to trade me out of my RB-7 for the brand, spanking new BH RB-10, with automatic GB. He took me to his shop, I liked it, and traded. WORST MISTAKE IN MY LIFE, well, almost. Maybe it was me, maybe it was that particular machine, but I couldn't find my *** with both hands with it. I regretted trading it. I kind of would like to have it for the memories, as it was a good machine, and if I found one at a great price, I would buy it. However, There have been so many advances in MD across all brands, that the RB-7 is more of a keepsake, a return to old times detector. It could find the stuff, but new detectors will probably find more, and deeper.

Just my 2.5 cents worth.
