Just want to throw this up for discussion.

What do you think is the best detector for C&J?
For under $900

Why ?

If you were selling to to me tell me why you think its the best!

Thanks for sharing!

just what you like, and will use till you learn it. For some, Minelabs, for others Whites, Garrett, Fisher, teknetics... 50 people can tell you how well they do,with what they use. And, reading the forums will verify that..That still does not mean it will work the same for you.. Explorers are awesome for many.. I have never been good with any of them.... I keep trying, but it just doesn't happen.. So like I said..It's what you like, and will learn all about how it works, that will make the difference.. I know your experienced enough to know what you like..Make it work for you..

Elton ... I would agree with you but wanted to see what people would chime in with.

I owned several Whites and several Minelb machines. Both are good brands.

On a personal note I liked the VDI range better on the Whites and the same with the tones.
Funny thing ..... I found more stuff with the less expensive models and I owned the top of the line
models for both brands.

It really does boil down to what you are comfortable with.

The less expensive detectors are easier to learn and master. The top of the line detectors have quite a learning curve and it takes some people a year or more, 100+ hours experience with one of them to start to break even with their more familiar machines. After fully learning the new "top-o-line" machine, there is no turning back...........

It's all in what one will devote the time for learning all the little things you need to know..

I feel it's pretty accurate to say that any general use detector will work just fine for coins and jewelry once the user gets to know it well.

Heck you could start out with any of these IMHO: F2, ACE250, Minelab 305, Whites Coinmaster, Silver Umax? Learn your unit and learn it well. Give it time and use it. When you get to the point where you and the MD are on the same page? Well the coins and jewelery will be found IMHO, Beale.

For jewelry a cheaper metal detector that doesn't allow cherry picking may be a better way to go and the user will still find a lot of coins.Gold prices are high and the value expected to increase.
