what Tesoro is for me?? CT

Im finally upgrading from my toy ace 250 & after all my research, Tesoro seems to be my choice. I like what i've heard bout the tejon & vaquero but am concerned with all the talk bout tejon doing so poor in bad soil. I live in southern CT, & was wondering if the soil here could be a prob for me. Happy to be onthis forum.

You will be fine with either machine in Southern CT! The best choice is always "the best machine you can afford, for the job you want to do." I live in White Plains, just south of you in New York. When I hunt beaches I use the Sand Shark. In the gold fields of Arizona, it is the Lobo SuperTraq. I think you will be thrilled with your new Tesoro. Keep us posted on your pick! - Terry

I live in southern New Mexico, the soil here is constantly changing from good to bad to really bad! Ive been using a Tejon and have had no issues with its depth! I use a DD coil with it so Im sure that helps ! I check my G.B. often and find the Tejon to be outstanding! I think some people may run their sensativity too high, possibly causing the issues they have with it in bad soil. J.M.O.!Its a great machine! You cant go wrong with Either Machine youve listed.

:canadaflag:I have a Vaquero here in Nova Scotia and like the manual ground, 9 volt battery, light weight, and coil options. I will say it has taken a year to really get the hang it but now I am so pleased that I stuck it out in learning all the intricacies of the Vaquero and I am not saying that I have learned them all. Oh I should mention that this is my first metal detector and I did not want to get on the metal detector tread mill of always looking for a better machine so for me a used Vaquero has been a good decision.
The area that it lacking was ground balance on salted soil or wet salt beach sand, to which I have bought a DD wide scan coil but have yet to try it out. This spring I added a Garrett Pro pinpointer which has been a great edition to the Vaquero that has helped me recover multiple silver targets (4) in same hole and also a mans gold wedding band.
Hope you find the Tesoro that meets your needs.

The Tejon works great in many very tough soils. Learning to properly ground balance(which isnt difficult) is the key to its performance. Best of luck to you.

Cuzzi I also live in southern ct. I have a cibola and the soil is'nt bad at all. I ran it hot goin relic hunting in cellar holes or as it's said super charged and it ran quiet as a church mouse excecpt for heavy iron signals. HH good luck in your search.

Good luck in whatever detector you get. I also live and hunt here is so ct but i dont have a tesoro. A dealer i know in granby carries all kinds of tesoro's. T&C METAL DETECTORS. you can check his site out for lots of tesoro detectors. . His name is tony and he will help you out. hh, dan

thanks for feedback everyone. what exactly am I giving up if i decide on V over T, besides dual disc?? Im mostly hunting parks, dry sand on beaches, & private yards. Also here & there could go relic hunting with my uncle & his club. (90% of them run e-trac or explorer) I would REALLY enjoy finding good stuff with a "simple" beep & dig machine among all the "top machines" ;)

:canadaflag:If you have not seen "53silver" s videos of the Vaquero on you-tube you really should. They show the capability's of the Vaquero for coins, jewelry and park hunting. A great tutorial for all interested in the Vaquero.
