What should my settings be on IDX for old house sites?

Can anyone help me with the settings for IDX. Should I keep them on the factory settings or should I be brave and change them around. I am hunting old house sites where there are tons of nails.

I would use one of the smaller coils and activate the black Sand Switch.Just use enough disc to knock out the small nails and dig the the pronounced repeatable audible responses. Don't worry about the target block indications as you may not get a clean ID. Adjust sensitivity for stability. Hope this helps a bit. HH Bill

The simplest rules to remember with ANY make or model is to use the highest Sensitivity setting you can w/o chatter, and the least amount of Discrimination you can tolerate.

With the IDX/IDX Pro the ONLY factory preset marker you should use is the one for Frequency Shift. Set it there and leave it there.

You will be able to operate at maximum Sensitivity almost everywhere, unless you're too close to power lines or other RF interference.

Unless I want to hunt in all metal accept, I only use enough rejection to knock out a surface iron nail. Typically, you can do that it toggled to 'Normal' and the Disc. level is set about 9-o-clock.

If it's really trashy, use a 4" Snooper coil (Blue Max 350) or one of the 6
