What should I look for in buying used?

Hi
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
OK-I had tons of detectors including about five different minelabs.
Liked them all but never had the ETRAC.
thinking of buying used-should I look for anything in particular or is there something I should watch for.
Been out of it for a few years and saw someone detecting and picking up some coin and it hooked me.

Try to find one with a RNB lithium ion battery with it they hold a charge for days not hours! that was one of the best upgrades for the Etrac and the reduced weight of the RNB and maybe a small coil pretty bullet proof machine
I sold mine due to weight I have bad tennis elbow..

Do not buy from someone who has just started posting. I am leery of buying anything from anyone with less than 200 posts. Other sites have feedback scores that are helpful. You should be able to get a decent E-Trac for around 700.

David, I'd ask the seller for the serial number and contact Minelab to make sure it isn't a knockoff from China. They might give you the age of the E-TRAC as well. They have a three year warranty also.

Good Advise Above.

To add a few things, some also have the aftermarket Jeff Herke detector stand that provides a wider / higher base than the factory stand, doing a better job of keeping the etrac up off wet grass, dirt and mud.

No scratches on the display, Nice clean condition. If there is still factory warranty, bonus. Get pictures of the display with the detector ON. Allows better view of the screen condition and ensure display is working correctly.

The things above are ALL what I would check for. The battery(I cannot over-state this) is a big one. Best thing I bought for my Explorer2 by a MILE! Absolute quality through and through including the charger, charges fully in a couple of hours and lasts literally 40-50 hours depending on your settings. With everything sucking as much power as possible it’s still bare minimum a 30 hour battery. You’ve had Minelabs, you know they like to use power!
Great advice above as Rich said....
