I have an X terra 70 and would like to know what is the best settings to used on my X terra 70 for Relic hunting. I live in VA. I also would like to know what coil to used. I have the 2 that came with the detector I also brought a 5"DD 18 Feq this year.

Thanks.

I been Relic hunting with X-70 over Year and half and also live In Va. First I switched to 10.5DD 7.5 Freq coil and great for Relic Hunting great depth ground coverage and hunt most soil. I hunt in All/Metal With 2 tones only low tone for Iron and High tone all other Targets. I Use Auto settings for Groundbalnceing, Noise Cancel also. The biggest setting in Sen setting I always run mine above At least #25 and #27, in most soil I hunt. In Real Hot soils in Southern Va. you may run lower Sen. low 20. and switching to 5X10 eliical coil is rock stable. Hope this Helps, so far X-70 has proven be great in depth for relics with 10.5DD coil. Hope this helps. Chuck

...set up mode 1 to disc out everything below -2. Then you can toggle back and forth between that and all metal. Dig the high tones. If all metal is too noisy then switch to mode 1 to "null" out the iron.

For those times when all metal is just too much due to the amount of iron signals try notching out the worst iron offender. Watch the screen and if the low tones are predominately hitting on the -6 segment that one gets notched out.

I have noticed a lot of people live in Virginia. I do as well. I live in Gainesville. Always looking for someone to go hunting with. None of my friends are interested in this hobby. They don't know what they are missing.

Cheers
Kevin

Virginia has tons of history in it. I grew up about 1 hour from Norfolk. Civil War, Rev War, Jamestown, tons of good places to hunt.

Where is Gainesville located? Not familar with that. Good luck finding hunting friends, Beale.

Sid...another Virginian here..and like recon I use the 10.5 DD 7.5KHz coil to relic hunt. I lower sensitivity to single digit,
use auto noise cancel and auto ground balance, I then raise sensitivity to 25 to 27. I set threshold at about 10. CW bullets give me a very strong 32 at 10"+. TomB

Gainesville, is just outside of Manassas. Right around the battlefields of Bull Run. Quite a few places around here to go. I just have to be careful to not end up on park land. That would not be good. I have the DD 10.5 inch high freq. coil. I seem to here everyone using the low freq coil. What is the difference in the two. I am new to all of this. Sorry.
