What setting are you guys using on the AT?

Pro mode? STD? Sensitivity hot as you can run it or??? Iron on or off? Lets hear what you guys like!

I hunt for coins and rings. I use the Pro Custom Mode. I put one notch ( the one closest to 60) back in. Discrimination at 35, sensitivity at factory setting. I've found 3 GOLD rings, and a large number of coins since December. So I think my settings are working quite well.

Maximum sensitivity,35 iron disc in the Pro mode and check possible bottle caps with the tone roll in iron audio. She is a dandy with these settings. Also when ground balancing, manually lower the ground balance number by 3 and she'll be one hot machine for the high conductors (she's always hot on the lower conductors). Dug some deep coins on edge this way with solid locks on each target. Love the sounds of this machine in Pro mode and also with the iron audio when checking for big iron.

For the beach - Pro mode, Custom. 35 iron disc and the first notch removed (40-45). Sensitivity at one less from maximum. I remove that one discrimination notch because of the high number of those white foil bottle seals that litter the beaches around here - more of them then any pull tabs! Iron Audio only in very quite areas or when I want to identify a iffy signal. When I was digging all I never found a coin or ring that would have been discriminated out with the above setting so feel reasonably confident that I am not missing anything of value. When hunting near in or near the waters edge and the area has few targets then I sometimes switch to Zero mode, Iron Audio on and dig all non-iron sounding targets.

In high trash areas in the grass where there are a lot of coins & I'm feeling lazy, I will discriminate out everything below 70. This means I won't find any gold jewelry or our modern 20 & 50c pieces but the $1 and $2 dollar coins still scream at me. A fast way of covering a trashy area for cash.

Bart, I can only hunt in the snow at this time of year, so I run my AT Pro in Standard with zero disc, & both iron disc/iron audio set at zero. I carefully listen to the audio tones and usually play with the targets using my search coil. Based on their audio sounds usually is the deciding factor whether to dig or not. The AT Pro to me is mostly an audio detector. I am also one to dig most of my targets anyways, unless it is very obvious that it is junk. Now when the snow is gone and I change my plan to hunt relics, I will be using the Pro mode with a different setting to be yet decided. for rings hunting, I have ordered a concentric coil, which combined with the 15 kHz is a killer for rings, especially gold.

I hunt in parks (30 minutes- I wish I had more time) When I first got the Pro i hunted in std mode with disc all the way up. The pennies (zinc) bark at you. The next time I hunt in the same place I usually listen for medium tones in zero mode. I still dig alot without rechecking with iron audio so I get some twist caps. Zero mode is very good! On days I hunt for medium tones have brought my jewlry ratio.

Pro Mode ....Custom ......Iron DIsc 40 .....Everything else open for the beach ......Sensitivity as high as the area will handle without falsing ....In the dry sand , I can run it all the way up ....In the wet it depends on wet sand or in the Saltwater ....... I only use Iron Audio button to check my higher targets to make sure they are coins and not bottle caps .... Jim

i have always iron audio on, with iron disc at 35, pro mode custom.. with no notches normally so i dont miss any gold...

Pro mode Zero, sens at 7 iron discrimination 00. Hunting mainly tot lots until the ground thaws.

So far 4 gold 2 silver and several junk rings/pendents. Also before the ground froze I pull 2 Indian Heads(1900, 1901) a 1912 barber dime and a 1929 wheat.

I relice hunt and my setting are as followed. Pro mode, sens all the way, zero disc and iron disc at 35. Iron tone off.

U can write a book on this question Bart. Most of the lots I hunt are vacant an the houses that were there have been smashed away and the property is trashed. I hunt in factory settings(pro mode) start out in coins or custom, iron disc high, sensitivity half way, iron audio when I want to .When I think I have dug it all out of an area I come back another day in zero.I 'm just taking root in this hobby and feel like I can grow, but I am my worst enemy because I wont do what my owners manual tells me to do and that is take notes and record your finds, not just mental, but write it down on paper.........................

It depends on where I'm At, an old park in Louisiana -pro mode zero disc iron on, sens at max or one below. Tot lot near my house , disc out 75 or less.
