What scoop to use for fresh water muD.

I am new to water detecting and am having trouble with scoops. I have no interest in getting my head wet. I had a shoved handle connected to a hand scoop that was working for a few days but it fell apart, I was trying to scoop too much mud. what tool should I use for this purpose? Does the long handle sand scoop do ok in the mud or is there something better?

Get a scoop made for water hunting and look into a float.. you can make one or buy one... I'm lazy I bought mine...

I have one beach I hunt and it is more mud then sand. This works good, digs right in, however sometimes you have to carefully put your hand in there and stir it up then shake it in the water if the mud is real caked..

smaller holes. That way small targets won't fall thru and you can use a vibra probe to locate them.

Here is what I use.

this is how hard it is to recover targets in sandy, marl/clay & muck.

gravel doesn't sift thru and thus the need for a vibra probe.

here is a closeup of the scoop with some goodies in it.

Those are some great photos and they gave me some ideas about what to look for. Water detecting is a whole other world. With better odds of finding the good stuff.
