What purpose is the factory preset when you hold the on swith down till it comes on

Just wondered and do you guy use ferious or conductive sounds when relic hunt what I am trying to understand is in the conductive sound
all ferious objects would be in neg numbers

back to factory preset by holding down the button. But, I'm no expert, Maybe Mike or Doug will know for sure.
 
Now if you run the coin and jewelry mode you will be in conductive tones, so the higher the conductivity is the higher the tones will be. Even a nail may be high tones, but was very ferrous and the numbers will be negative. Now in the relic mode and all metal mode the tones are ferrous tones so the more ferrous the lower the tones will be, the coins will sound the same, but now that same nail will be low tones. This is why I liked using the relic mode when i had my Quattro in area with nail in it as the high tones and high number where coins while the nails would be low tones, but in conductivity the nails too would be high tones.
 
Mike is right but MikeVA & RickND are the real experts here :)

Push button control panels unlike the old toggle switch and dials do not show at a glance where the machine settings are. If you are new to the Quattro, starting with the factory preset mode ensures that you are reverted back to the default settings.
