What part of 10" coil is pinpointing---center or forward edge?

I'm just learning my new Excal II and am I impressed!! One thing I can't decide on though, is it the forward edge of the coil that is pinpointing or the center??

the way i find the item is move left and right over item as i back up ,when the sound stops the item will be at the leading tip of the coil.all DD coils work that way for me.

I guess it works exactly the same with the 800, right?!

By the way - do any of you experienced guys out there have any suggestions on changing coil on the Excalibur II. Or maybe the unit works best with the one allready installed?

Swede,
Yes to your first question.
As for your second question, I think it is still being debated. Maybe someone else will chime in on that one.

Do you guys turn the unit into pin-point when doing that "final" search for the object or perhaps (with experience) one is able to pin-point in disc?

It is possible to pin point in DISC if the target is not too deep. If it is DEEP and you are in the water you would be better off pin pointing in all metal mode. Just from my experience.

GOOD LUCK!
