What on earh did I find???

Hey Joeb. I found a piece that I swear looked identical to that find. Not sure if I kept it or not. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread to see what you find out. Good luck.

I tried a magnet. No dice. But it is heavy and it did set off BHID as a pulltab. You can see metal in it. Weird.

The one I found did the same thing. But it looks a very slight different. Mine still has the little rust pockets but won't stick to a magnet, and reads pulltab or nickle. I'm sure they are the same. I did read on the web there is a metorite thats very rare that doesn't stick to a magnet. so I think we need help from the guys and gals out there, Thanks, Gene

where i come from there called hot rocks. rocks with metal in them weird that u find one on that high of a discrim usually i only find them if im in all metal

Prodigy, I don't think is't a hot rock, this thing I have is so hard you can break a rock with it. Some places look like steel. It has small rust spots, but it won't stick to a magnet. and reads nickle, gold and pulltab. Mine is about the size of two golf balls. and very heavy. Gene

Might be a piece of satalite or rocket debre got hot re-entering the atmosphere. Interesting it has rust spots and won't respond to a magnet. that could be a very interesting find. Keep us posted. HH :minelab:

coal slage, from burnt coal , i find that stuff all the time on some spots maybe you can ground balance it out

Its not coal. It has metal in it that is non-magnetic and has no tarnish. I emailed three profs at Umass geology department. Problem being they are probably out on vacation. I will keep you all posted...may email another university. HH -Joe
