What Numbers do you dig? (Relic Hunting)

I am good with the DFX but new to E-Trac. Alot of our camps we have hunted hard. Everything comes deep. The DFX with a 12X15 SEF has reached its limits. I bought a E-Trac to get deeper. I have a 12X15 SEF on it. With the DFX we would dig anything that we could get to come up on the + side (with counduct). What is the numbers I should be digging with the E-Trac to be getting the same thing. I have ordered Andy Sabisch book but its not in yet. I have had one trip out and just dug square nails. Help!

Probably the best thing to do is sweep some sample targets from about 10 inches. Use your Noise Cancel about every 30 minutes. With the square nails I've been digging both numbers have been in the 20s. You can also change the tones that will help you identify iron. I guess I should say I've been using a DFX and Explorer XS since 2001 and have a lot of time on both machines. The E-trac and I have only been out 4 times due to our lousy winter here. Come on Spring ! About a week ago I took E-trac out to a Tavern we have beat up bad over the years with the DFX, Explorer and Eagle Spectrum. It was getting so bad we couldn't even get a signal that was worth digging. In a little over an hour I managed to find these. The small Crotal bell was at 11 inches and the larger button was about 7. This was with the stock coil, good strong signals. I did a cellar hole hunt a couple of weeks ago and sucked up 7 targets in a small area that I had missed before getting the E-trac. On that hunt most of the decent non-ferrous targets on that hunt the first number was anywhere from 8-13. I still have a lot of learning to do but the E-trac is without a doubt the Best machine I've ever used. Sensitive, Deep, super pinpointing (just like the White's ). Andy's Book will be a Great help, I need to read it again. I'm sure there are other people here that can give you better info. You wont be sorry you bought this machine. All pics are from areas hunted hard before E-trac. It just keeps getting better. Happy Hunting, Bob

The Elias Howe Medallion is off an Early sewing machine. Interesting guy, first one to patent the sewing machine, sued Singer for a bundle and won. Google his name. When I first dug it I figured it was Washington on it, until I cleaned it up. Someone hopefully will chime in with some good info for Rafter. I'm still a newbie on this machine.
